After one of our sites started using a 2801 (with ADSL WIC) for internet access some of our users strated complaining they could not longer access MSN and Hotmail. It was a bit puzzling at first since you could ping these sites but could not access them via a web browser. The problem was the MTU setting.
Continue reading "Problems Accessing Microsoft Sites"

Ever wondered what was downstream speed of your ADSL connection? You can get this as well as other useful information for troubleshooting physical connection problems (like Noise Margin, Attenuation and Output Power) with the
show dsl interface ATM <slot/port> command.
Continue reading "ADSL Downstream Connection Speed"

Recently we upgraded our old FreeBSD firewall to a Cisco ASA5520 and I noticed that ASA does not generate ICMP Redirects if it is used as the "default router" or gateway for a network.
Continue reading "ICMP Redirect on an ASA"

Have you ever want to setup sub interfaces on your router so that you can connect multiple VLANs on one physical ethernet port?
Continue reading "Setting up Sub Interfaces to connect to multiple VLANs"
